V2I Mobility Management in Vehicular Networks

چکیده

Mobility management is a challenging research area for vehicular networks to provide a variety of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications. Traditional mobility management schemes for MANET are not applicable to vehicular networks because of their distinguished mobility characteristics. Providing uninterrupted service to the mobile nodes in vehicular networks is a major concern for mobility management. In this paper, a study on V2I mobility management in vehicular networks is presented. We first explain the problem by describing different network mobility scenarios and then identify the requirements for V2I mobility management. We review NEMO basic support protocol for vehicular networks and discuss its strength and weakness in terms of deployment. We conclude with some open research issues for mobility management in vehicular networks. Keywords—Mobility Management, Network Mobility, Vehicular Networks
